A Message From Our PTA President

Hello Dahlia Families,

As the 2019-2020 President of the Dahlia Heights PTA, I'd like to extend a warm welcome to our neighborhood school! As a PTA, we are here to support the faculty, staff, parents, and most importantly, our students at Dahlia. We also aim to strengthen and build our community through our many programs and events, and we can use your help! Over the years, the PTA has become one of the strongest voices in the educational process that directly supports our children and school. This year, PTA will continue to fund programming and bring new initiatives for a productive and exciting year that enhances the educational environment for all of our students. 

Your first opportunity to show your support will be to become a member of the Dahlia Heights Elementary School PTA. At $10 per member, this is a simple and affordable way to show your commitment to our school. Please be sure to check out our membership incentives – there are great neighborhood and Southern California discounts available to PTA members. Join

Another way to show your support is by participating in the events and programs that we have planned throughout the year. You can participate as an event chair, committee member, a volunteer, or just show up and have fun! Why become a PTA member?


  • Your involvement benefits your child and the school. Research has proven that kids do better in school when parents are involved.  Grades are higher, test scores improve, and attendance increases.
  • Joining connects you to a network. PTA events are opportunities to meet other parents and teachers, build rapport, and discuss ideas.
  • Being a member means being more informed. Caregivers involved in the PTA understand the challenges the school faces and become part of the solution.  They support improving education – both locally and legislatively – and as a result, schools develop a positive reputation in the community.
  • PTA involvement boosts children’s well-being, as programs focus on what students need in order to be successful in school, including the community engagement, physical fitness, better student-to-classroom adult ratios, and school safety.
  • Joining PTA gets you connected and gives you a voice. There’s no better way to know what’s happening in your school than by being part of the PTA, the main forum for exchanging ideas. At meetings, you are encouraged to make suggestions and more effectively create change at your school.
  • Being of service through PTA improves your skills. You’ll gain valuable leadership experience and have an opportunity to put your skills and hobbies to good use.
  • An active PTA results in school improvement. PTAs play an important role in fundraising, which provides building improvements, curriculum-based programs, and social events – all vital elements to a school’s success.
  • Joining PTA makes you a good role model. You’ll be demonstrating to your children the importance you place on education and the ability of regular people to make a difference.

Mission of the PTA

The mission of the California State PTA is to positively impact the lives of all children and families by representing our members and empowering and supporting them with skills in advocacy, leadership, and communication.

A United Voice for Children

Not all decisions affecting a child’s school happen at the local level, and the Mission of PTA is to address the educational and social needs of all children. For more than a century, PTA has been a driving force in national education policies and programs. Today, PTA continues to champion the importance of family involvement, safe and nurturing environments, and proper funding, curriculum, and leadership in our public schools.
